molds

‘Molds’ are plaster diptychs that follow the topography of folds and creases of a newspaper sheet. They are made in the same manner as a mold would be made for multiplication. In this case, the newspaper is the positive, and the resulting casts are the negatives. Unlike most molds, where any traces of the original are considered flaws, the imprint of the positive is both in the absorption of the ink and the colouring of the paper on the bookmatched casts.
